From Savasana to Stepping Out of the Box...

By Megan Colleen Kelly
SANKHYA Yoga Correspondent and Yoga Expert ;-)

Another fabulous week at SANKHYA! But a twist to the norm. This week Biore' Skincare & Physique 57 provided samples of Biore' products and a crazy workout!

Physique 57 was insane and challenging. They brought ballet barres, mats, balls and straps. Also equipped with their own sound system - it felt odd to hear funky bass in the studio - normally serene and peaceful, was now transformed into a high energy class with a microphone headpiece and motivational pep talks. It kicked our yogi butts. Oh My Genesha!

It made me think about stepping out of the box. Doing something we wouldn't normally do. Keeping life interesting. I thought I said "goodbye" to "working out" years ago when yoga came into my life. I forgot what it was like. In the 1st 20 seconds I almost regretted leaving my comfy box. But at the end of class, I felt great. Rejuvenated. A little proud of myself for making it through. A metaphor for life and a constant in every yoga practice to ebb and flow with the breath of life instead of resisting the difficult, the new, or the uncomfortable... within reason, of course ;-)

It's nice to try new things. Get out and do something different. Challenge yourself. Learn and grow. Motivate others. Never let grass grow under your feet. Grab a friend to join you!

Of course, SANKHYA will be here as your soft place to land. Your comfy box where you know you'll be challenged, nurtured and loved.

Do Something Good for Yourself!

By Megan Colleen Kelly
SANKHYA Yoga Correspondent and Yoga Expert ;-)

I was on my way to Erin's 6pm Monday night class at SANKHYA Yoga Studio, the weather was less than perfect. The cruel reality of summers end was more than apparent. Wishing I was under the blankets watching mindless TV, I had to wrestle with doing just that. Getting to the yoga class is the hard part. Once there at SANKHYA, everything changes...

We all have our reasons for getting on our mats. Reasons for venturing out into the elements, finding a babysitter, putting our work loads on hold. The reason? Yoga makes it all better. We need to do something good for ourselves, so we can be better people. Pass it on to the universe and have it come back to us. Positivity breeds more positivity. And as long as we take this time to make a difference in our own lives, the possibility of changing the lives of those around us, are endless.

When I finally settled down on my mat, the trials and tribulations life always throws at us, seem to melt away, if even for the brief time during your practice. Brief or not, I'll take it. The  beautiful space at SANKHYA  somehow feels like home. Where you're safe and sound. Comfortable in your skin and about to go on a new journey. Where this journey will take you? You never know. But it's always somewhere you want to be - Erin is an excellent captain of this ride. No two "journeys" are the same. But we trust that we"ll arrive to our destination together and separately full of peace and accomplishment that only yoga can bring us!

If you love someone, introduce them to yoga. Whatever people are seeking, yoga can help them find it. Pass on the knowledge and benefits you have learned. Change some body's life. It's a gift and it's our responsibility to share it with the masses. A yogi revolution!

Share Your Yoga Inspired Stories with Us!

Everybody starts out on THEIR yoga path for THEIR own reason or reasons, but somehow we all wind up on the journey together; in a yoga class with friends, our sister, mother, father, brother, son, daughter, our lover or spouse, and with perfect strangers, who all make room for us to roll out a mat and be a part of each other’s space. Sharing one movement at a time, one couldn't be more grateful to be a part of the whole of this amazing class.

At SANKHYA YOGA, our space is your space, period. And you have all of the room in the world to be and express exactly who YOU are... allowing your life to be inspired by the yoga practice, and shaping that experience into anything that you desire. Finding a way, finding the space to Live Your Passion!

If you are living your passion, searching for your passion, or somewhere in between, we want to hear your story. Post a comment and share this space with us or feel free to start your own yoga inspired discussion!
